When the Royal Observatory’s astronomers needed a new place to share the wonders of the Universe, Two Tails Productions helped build them a home away from home.
With works under way at the Royal Observatory Greenwich and the Peter Harrison Planetarium closed for refurbishment, Royal Museums Greenwich set out to keep astronomy front and centre for visitors. The answer was Astronomers Take Over, a brand new interactive space at the National Maritime Museum, putting visitors right at the heart of the action, face to face with real astronomers.
Two Tails Productions led the creative development and production of the exhibition, working closely with the Royal Museums Greenwich team and technical production partner The Production Family. Visitors can wander through the Galaxy Box, take on hands-on challenges in the Moon and Mars zones, gather in the Star Huddle for live science demonstrations and settle in for astronomer-led shows in a pop-up planetarium. Every zone was designed to make space science feel personal, playful and within reach for visitors of all ages.
Creating a space where the public can meet the people behind the science has been one of the most rewarding projects in our portfolio. Keep an eye on our channels for a behind-the-scenes film, where talk through how it all came together with Royal Museums Greenwich and The Production Family.
