We brought Roald Dahl’s gloriously gruesome world of The Twits to life at Wakehurst during the Easter holidays, 2025, delighting families with a trail packed full of mischief, mayhem, and memorable moments.
Set within the beautiful grounds of Wakehurst (part of Royal Botanical Gardens Kew), the interactive trail invited visitors to step into the wonderfully revolting world of Mr and Mrs Twit. With a series of trail points woven through the landscape, families were challenged to test their wits, bravery, and imagination as they took on the Twits’ dastardly antics.
Young adventurers were encouraged to rummage through Mr Twit’s famously filthy beard in search of hidden objects, help the long-suffering Muggle-Wumps plot their daring escape from the bird cage, and pit their cleverness against the Twits themselves in a series of playful challenges designed to see who could truly Outwit the Twits.
Each activity brought Roald Dahl’s iconic characters to life in a fun, hands-on way, blending storytelling with outdoor exploration.
We were delighted by the enthusiastic response and happy to have delivered another successful literary adventure at Wakehurst – one that celebrated imagination, participation, and just the right amount of mischievous fun.
